Cowboy 5-0

Posted in Equestrian, Football, Soccer on October 10, 2010 by Jared Gallagher

Another successful weekend for Oklahoma State athletics. The Pokes traveled to the Bayou to play a little “fooseball in the Swampland”. After yet another subpar opening half, Brandon Weeden and the boys scored three touchdowns in the first nine minutes of the third quarter and never looked back.

The Cowboys won 54-28, thanks to a 13-reception, 190-yard, two-touchdown performance by Justin Blackmon. Kendall Hunter had another 100+ yard rushing performance and Weeden set a new Cajun Field record with five touchdown passes. 25,881 were on hand to see the barn-burner; the 11th largest crowd in Cajun Field history. With the win the Pokes improve to 5-0 (see title) and can look ahead to their first Big 12 road game of the season when they travel to Lubbock, Texas next weekend to take on the Texas Tech Mascot Stealers. Whoops, I mean Red Raiders.

Moving from the gridiron to the saddle, the Cowgirl Equestrian team kicked off their season with a 13-6 drubbing of the UT Martin Skyhawks. Yes, the Skyhawks.

The 7th-ranked Cowgirl futbol club (soccer, for you Americans) extended their unbeaten streak to 11 and improved to 12-1-1 and 5-0 in conference play.

Check back often and Go Pokes!
